Itinerary: Yangon - Bagan - Yagon
DAY 01: ARRIVAL YANGON (-/-/-)
Arrive at Yangon International Airport and welcome by our tour speaking guide. Transfer to hotel for check in. (The official check in time at 14:00 hours). This morning, visit Botathaung Pagoda, located close to Yangon River and said to contain Buddha relics. The tour includes visit the old colonial-style city center with the gilded Sule Pagoda, as a landmark in central Yangon. And visit Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market, is the most popular market (close on every Monday & Public holiday) and where you can buy luxury item, handicrafts, food stuff, clothing, jewelry, fashion and consumer goods.
In the afternoon, visit to Chaukhtatgyi (Reclining Buddha) Pagoda a colossal reclining Buddha. Then visit Karaweik Hall Royal barge on the Royal Lake for photo stop. Enjoy the sunset at Shwedagon Pagoda, famous worldwide - its golden stupa is the 'heart' of Buddhist Myanmar. The Pagoda is believed to be 2,500 years old and the central stupa in surrounded by dozens of intricately decorated buildings and statues. Accommodation at hotel, Yangon.
DAY 02: YANGON – BAGAN (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. Early morning transfer to the airport to take domestic flight to Bagan. Arrive at Bagan and transfer to the hotel. Morning sightseeing to the one of Asia’s most popular archeological destination. We will visit colorful Naung U Market and visit some of Bagan most famous pagodas, including Shwezigon Pagoda,a prototype of later Myanmar stupas: Gupaukgyi ,a 13th century cave temple with interesting fine frescoes of scences from the jatakas, and Anada Pagoda, one of the visit to a Lacquerware factory. We will also visit Dhammayangyi Patho, a massive later period temple with the finest brickwork in Bagan.
In the afternoon, visit top for a photo of Bagan’s tallest temple; 61 metre-high Thatbyinnyu, known as the 'temple of omniscience' and dating from 1144.Next visit a lacquer craftsman's workshop in nearby Myingaba village, where you’ll learn how this delicate art is made. Sightseeing continues with visits to Manuha Temple, built in the Mon style in 1059; Nanpaya Temple, a unique sandstone monument said to have been the palace of King Manuha and Gubyaukgyi (Myingaba) under the protection of UNESCO and noted for its ancient mural paintings. DAY 03: BAGAN (B/-/-)
Optional: Balloons Over Bagan Flight
Early morning, the tour start for surprise discover day to see the ancient city of Bagan form above. Client’s enjoy a magnificent bird's eye view of thousand year-old pagodas, temples and the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River with “BALLOONS OVER BAGAN'. It is a very exiting experience and clients will never forget. The Balloon is guided by gentle wind and chance to see slowly the sun rising. The balloon is guided by gentle winds and operates form 20 Oct 2014 till 20 Mar 2015 only. (Balloon Over Bagan service start operate from 01 Oct till 31 Mar for every year due to weather)
Breakfast at hotel. This morning start your tour to see 13th Century frescoes adorning the corridors of Kyansittha 'Cave' Temple. Next stop is Htilominlo, the last Bamar style temple built in Bagan, with old murals and friezes. Later, visit Pyatsashwegu, built in 11th century showing frescoes with ancient Mon captions on the interior walls. Stop at Myazedi stupa to see Myanmar's "Rosetta Stone", bearing inscriptions written in four languages. Then, pass through Tharaba Gateway where in the niches on the eastern side you will see two statues representing Nat shrines before entering into Old Bagan.
After that visit to Abeyadana Temple with frescoes representing Bodhisattvas and the gods of Indian mythology. Continue to Dhammayangyi, a massive-looking temple dating from 1170 that is famous for its interlocking mortar less brickwork. Next, visit Sulamani, one of Bagan’s great two-storied Bamar style temples, which has 4-seated Buddha images. Enjoy the sunset top of the one of the temple. Accommodation at hotel, Bagan.
DAY 04: BAGAN – SALAY – MT. POPA – BAGAN (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. This morning, drive to Salay, it is a small town about 15 km south of Bagan, down the Ayarwaddy River. Visit Yokesone Monastery (close on Public holidays, Mondays and Tuesdays), which is the oldest surviving wooden monastery hall, built on 154 teak posts with beautiful wood carvings decorating the outer walls. The figures carved outside the front of the building are worth seeing. Another place worth visiting is Tha-ta-na Kyaung (Keythar monastery) where Tipitaka texts are housed in a large red lacquered cabinet. Continue to Payathonzu, a complex of three brick shrines with mural paintings from the Bagan period, and see Man Paya - a large lacquer Buddha image, said to date from the 13th century. On the way visit to traditional palm work, Cigar Market and peanut oil distillation.
At afternoon, proceed on a scenic overland journey to Mt. Popa, an extinct volcano which 1518 meters (4981 feet) above sea level, and a day trip from Bagan, set mid lovely hill and forest scenery. The Popa Taungkalat Shrine is home to 37 Mahagiri Nats, or spirits, Satues depicting the Nats are at the base of the shrine. From the top of Taung Kalat, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the ancient city of Bagan. Late afternoon, return to Bagan. Enjoy the sunset at Pyathat Gyi Temple. Accommodation at hotel, Bagan.
DAY 05: BAGAN – MANDALAY (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. This morning, transfer to Bagan Airport for domestic flight to Mandalay. Upon arrival, proceed to Amarapura. Then visit picturesque Sagaing, perhaps the living center of Buddhist faith in Myanmar today. The hills here are dotted with numerous pagodas and monasteries. Then drive to U Bein Bridge, which at over a kilometer is believed to be the longest teak bridge in the world.
In the afternoon, sightseeing tour, a highlight of Mandalay which is the Mahamuni Pagoda, home to Mandalay's holiest Buddha statue. Next visit to Shwe-im-bin, a wooden monastery over 100 years old which is known for its lovely carving. Continue visit to Kuthodaw Pagoda (the “world’slargest book”, being the Buddhist Scriptures inscribed on marble slabs). Then visit Shwenandaw Monastery, an ancient wooden building with intricate carvings. Visit Kyaukdawgyi Pagoda to see a large Buddha statue carved out of a single block of local marble. Enjoy spectacular views at sunset from Mandalay Hill, where there are interesting glass-studded temples. Accommodation at hotel, Mandalay.
DAY 06: MANDALAY – YANGON – EVENING DEPARTURE (B/-/-)
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Mandalay airport for domestic flight back to Yangon. Arrival at Yangon, if time permit, visit to Lawka Chanthar Arbayar Laba Muni Buddha Image (Kyauktawgyi) and Royal White Elephant camp and Kaba Aye Pagoda and Maha Pasana Cave before transfer to Yangon international airport for departure.
