Overview

Each cabin has its own air-conditioning unit, which can be adjusted for your comfort. We recommend you do not over- cool your cabin as the sudden change from the outside temperature to a chilled cabin can bring on colds, respiratory illnesses and even stomach upsets. When you go out, we recommend you turn the setting to 'Lo Cool', set at about 4, and then when you return you can readjust the temperature to your preference without having to wait for cool air. At night you may prefer to use the fan only, and have the windows open. Insect netting covers the windows to enable you to do this. Please do not leave your air-conditioner on with the window open - this results in energy loss (the equivalent of switching on the heating and opening the windows in a cold country

The sun deck is located on the top of our boat, It is spacious for your relaxation and suntans . For your enjoyment, there are plenty of deck chairs.

Le Cochinchine Cruise Dining:

Meals on board Le Cochinchine Cruise are taken at one sitting. It is not necessary to sit at the same table each time and we have tables for individuals, couples right up to larger groups. We offer a mixture of local cuisine with richly flavor and taste and there are always vegetarian dishes offered. Passengers requiring special diets, such as vegetarian, low salt & low cholesterol meals, may make their requests to the chef when onboard. The chef will try to honor all requests. Exotic fruit, fresh organic vegetables, locally caught fish and prawns are the preference of most of our passengers.

The cruise bar is always open, it offers while selection of drinks includingfamous wine French, Australian, Italian wine.

Le Cochinchine Cruise Safes

Barges do not generally have safes on board. Since the dress code is casual it is not necessary to bring along valuable jewelry. In general it is not wise to travel anywhere with your valuables. Exercise caution throughout & be careful when handling or stowing your passport. It is a good idea to travel with a photocopy of your passport. Leave information of your credit cards at home with a trusted friend or relative, as well as make a copy of the stop usage if lost or stolen you can call from Europe.

Bicycles

Bicycles are carried onboard. Crew will be happy to help you with bike adjustments and getting it on and off the barge. Please remember to use caution when riding along towpaths or into villages. A decision to engage in cycling during the cruise constitute the travellers assumption of all risks associated and an agreement not to make a claim against the barge owners for any personal injury, death or property damage that arises out of such activity.

Electricity

On our boat and ashore in hotels is 220 volts 50 Hz AC. On the ship we have continental 2 pin type sockets but adapters are available from the ship’s office.

Itinerary

2 days program

Day  1: Cai Be - Tra On (-/L/D) 

11h00: we board Le Cochinchine boat and enjoy welcome drink. We will then explore the lively Cai Be floating market and cruising amongst the mazes of waterway to visit the handicraft villages and meet with local people. Here, we visit the old house and sample various tropical fruits.
We arrive in Vinh long in the afternoon. We disembark for a walk or bike for sightseeing tour of the Cu lao Binh Hoa Phuoc before cruising to Can Tho via Cho Lach and Tra On. Here, we visit the Cho Lach village and take a tour on foot or by bike on the footpaths of the countryside to discover tropical fruit orchards and the local people's activities. En-route to visit a cottage industry, a local farm and sample seasonal fruits. We will then keep cruising to continue to Mang Thit. Enjoy the magnificent sunset on the river. Leisurely cruise up the Mekong River while enjoying the beautiful scenery and the aperitifs, sunset cruise.

Day 2: Tra On - Can Tho (B/-/-) 

Rising up to the sound of River and Mekong Delta coming to life for another lovely day we enjoy the sunset. After breakfast, we cruise along the cannels and visit a village on the bank of Co Chien. Here, we will have the opportunity see the way of life of the local inhabitants, and their hospitality. Leisurely cruise up the Bassac River while enjoying the beautiful scenery along the river. Upon arrival to Can Tho, we visit the Cai Rang market, one of the most bustling floating markets in Mekong Delta with hundreds of small boats laden fruits barging and jostling for space as owners attempt to sell their goods. Boat through the palm-shaded creek to see local houses and green orchards, ship building yards, local markets in full swing.

11h00 Check out and disembark the Le Cochinchine Cruise. The cruise concludes.

3 days program

Day  1: Cai Be - My Thuan - Sa Dec (-/L/D) 

11h00: we board Le Cochinchine boat and enjoy welcome drink. Le Cochinchine starts cruising to Cai Thia while lunch is served on boat.

In the afternoon, we disembark for a lovely cycling excursion on the bank of the peninsula browsing several verdant villages, visiting of the gardens and orchards, local houses and meeting with people and getting insight into Delta life.  We will then visit Cao Dai temple on the way to My thuan. Embarking the cruise, we continue towards Sa Dec, a nice and quiet  town overlooking Mekong river. Here, we visit the lively Sa Dec food market and primary school headed by Magueritte Duras and take a walk along the village path and get yourself acquaintance with rural activities  as farmers farm their fields: rice fields, and vegetable farms, fish farms. Back to the Le Cochinchine for a cruise down stream. Relax on boat while sipping an aperitif.

Day 2: Cai Thia - Vinh Long - Tra On (B/L/D) 

Breakfast on the Le Cochinchine on the Mekong. We will then visit Binh Hoa Phuoc island and go for walk through the islets, sampling native fruits viewing local handicraft production and meet the local people. Transferring to a local boat for an extensive visit of Cai Be: the floating market, the mazes of waterway , local pop-rice and sweets production. 

Visit of old houses, delightful flower gardens and local coconut candy and rice paper manufacturers and cruise to Co chien while enjoying Lunch on board. Disembark for a deeper exploration to the local village, we take a walk on the footpaths of the countryside to discover tropical fruit orchards and the local people's activities, visiting a cottage industry , a local farm and sample seasonal fruits.
Boarding back, we have complimentary drink as a welcome back on board, you are free to rest on the deck enjoying the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Le Cochinchine is cruising Mang Thit river.

Day  3: Tra On - Can Tho departure (B/-/-) 

Breakfast on the Le Cochinchine Cruise. The morning bobbling commotion of Mekong river life comes to life for another lovely day. Our boat set sails to Can Tho through tributary and canals. Transfer to Cai Rang where we visit one of the most bustling floating markets on Mekong river. We go for a walk along the canals and the palm-shaded creek to see local houses and green orchards, ship building yards, rural and water activities in full swing. 

Boarding back at noon, with a welcome-back drink.
