Overview
This tour first takes you to the beautiful valley of Mai Chau village which remains uncrowded and still keeps authentic and distinguished tradition. There you will have the opportunity to hike to discover the beautiful mountain scenery, visit remote villages, meet ethnic groups, admire the authentic local life and immerse yourself in the rhythm of inhabitants’slife.
This tour then takes you to Pu Luong Nature Reserve, a mountain range located south of Mai Chau. Pu Luong has a bushy forest, beautiful rice terraces and breathtaking scenery. You can appreciatewild nature, visit the villages which are shelters of ethnic groups and discover their customs.

08:00: Our guide and driver pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi, depart to Mai Chau (140km-4h drive), a beautiful valley that includes the white Thai ethnic minorities, Hmongs, Zao, Muong. Stop at Thung Khe Pass for the panoramic view of the green valley in Mai Chau, pretty hamlets of the white Thai minority at the foot of the Hoang Lien Son mountains, in the heart of a beautiful valley dotted with jagged hills. You will arrive at Poom Coong hamlet around noon and have lunch with the locals.
Take a bike ride to discover Mai Chau valley and Poom Coong hamlet through mountainous landscapes and rice fields. Then, take a 2-hour trekking to visit Mai Hich with vegetable gardens, fish ponds, houses on stilts, rice paddies and discover the Thai’s life.
Dinner and overnight at a homestay at Mai Hich.
Option: After dinner, you can attend a traditional dance show (on request, with additional fee), play around the campfire, exchange with villagers.
Transfer: 140km (4 hours drive)
Bike: 1.5 hours
Trekking: 2 hours
After breakfast with the locals, trekking about 1.5 hours to meet ethnic minorities while discovering the lush landscapes, the peace of local life with friendly inhabitants.
Go to Pu Luong (2.5 hours drive). After lunch, easy trekking for 2-3 hours through beautiful villages located on the hillsides, surrounded by beautiful rice fields, observe bamboo water wheels.
* Option 1: At the end of the day, Overnight in a stilt house of the white Thai family in Hang village.
* Option 2: End of the day in Pu Luong, overnight at Pu Luong Retreat.
Transfer: 2.5 hour drive
Trekking: 4-5 hours
You enjoy a trekking around tumbling rice terraces. Trekking through small trails embellished with vegetation to reach a picturesque village at the foot of an imposing mountain.
Continue going to the valley, you will see roads and farmland, villages and wild fields, ponds and rivers, mountains and rice fields. Stop at Eo Ken hamlet for lunch. This is an opportunity to discover their seasonal cultures and their ancestral customs. You will be greeted with big smiles. Back to Hanoi. Arrival in Hanoi at the end of the day.
