Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City – Arrival
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free for relaxation.An optional walking tour of Dong Khoi St (formerly Rue Catinat) and Le Cong Kieu St., two of Ho Chi Minh City’s most famous streets, is available.
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City – Cu Chi Tunnels – Sightseeing
After breakfast, drive to the extraordinary Cu Chi tunnels, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war of Independence, Vietnamese guerrillas built the labyrinth of narrow tunnels virtually underneath U.S bases, using them to hide during bombing raids and to stage surprise attacks.En route to Cu Chi, we can see how rural people live and work. View occupations such as cashew nut farming, rice farming and production of rice paper, a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine. Return to Ho Chi Minh City in the afternoon for a half day city tour. Visit the Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Chinatown, Binh Tay market and Thien Hau Temple. A relaxing, end-of-day foot massage is optional. Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh Long – Boat Cruise
Depart Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic morning drive to Cai Be, stopping en route at the ornate Cao Dai Temple in Ben Luc. From Cai Be, take a boat trip along the mightly Mekong River and its tributaries to view the daily lives of people who works and play on the waterways of the Mekong river Delta. The trip includes visits to the floating market at Cai Be, to an authentic old house and to a family-run business producing rice paper – a key ingredient in Vietnamese cuisine. Lunch is on at an ait, in a local house set among fruit orchards and bonsai trees. A performance of traditional Vietnamese music is optional. OVERNIGHT IN VINH LONG
Day 4: Vinh Long – Chau Doc
After breakfast drive to Chau Doc, a riverside trading port near the Cambodian border. Upon arrival, visit Sam Mountain, home of the Lady Chua Xu Temple and a favorite pilgrimage site for locals. Continue to the tomb of the town’s founder, Thoai Ngoc Hau. There is an optional 2 km hike to the summet of Sam Mountain to enjoy sunset and a panoramic view of the town below.VICTORIA CHAU DOC.
Day 5: Chau Doc – Phnom Penh by boat
In the morning, board the boat for a 4-hour cruise to Phnom Penh. Enjoy the immensity of the Mekong River and view the daily lives of local people living and working by the river. Arrive in Phnom Penh and check in to hotel. Take an afternoon city tour of the National Museum, the Silver pagoda, the Royal Palace and oldest shrine in the city, Wat Phnom. OVERNIGHT IN PHNOM PENH. Day 6: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap – Angkor Complex
After an early breakfast, transfer to airport for the flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival, check in to hotel. Begin exploration of the ancient city of Angkor Thom via the South Gate. Continue the journey by viewing the ruins at Bayon, Baphoun, Phimeanakas, the Royal Palace, the Elephant Terrace. In the afternoon, visit the epic Angkor Wat, viewing its extraordinary architecture and bas-reliefs. End the day with a spectacular sunset viewed from the mountain temple of Phnom Bakheng. Day 7: Siem Reap – Angkor Complex
After breakfast, proceed to the graceful 11th century Temple of Shiva-Banteay Samre Temple. On the way back, stop at the three-tiered temple-hill of Pre Rup. There, view the Bantey Kdei with its rarely seen sculpted female deities, the Lake of Srah Srang, and the impressive Ta Prohm Temple, which is dramatically enveloped by jungle. Visit the Ta Keo, Chau Say Tevada, and Thommanon temples before returning to hotel. OVERNIGHT IN SIEM REAP. (breakfast)
Day 8: Siem Reap – Departure
The morning is free for rest or exploration. Transfer to airport for departure. End of services. (Breakfast).
